Summary:Упродовж 60 років (1880—1939) у Львові виходило «Діло» — єдиний український часопис Галичини, який так тривало представляв інтереси бездержавної нації в умовах Австро-Угорської імперії, Першої світової війни, відновленої Польської держави і короткого періоду існування Західно-Української Народної Республіки. Редакції видання вдалося пройти шлях від поширення просвітницьких ідей[⇒] серед загалу народу до обстоювання права української нації на державність. Це, в результаті, дозволило трактувати «Діло» як одне з посутніх джерел до вивчення історії української політичної думки. Одним із важливих компонентів змісту «Діла» є матеріали біографічного характеру, присвячені відомим та малознаним особистостям, які працювали і проявили себе в різних царинах суспільної діяльності. Перший розділ видання — «Біобібліографічні публікації» — представляє інформацію про осіб, згаданих у часописі, у вигляді бібліографії. Прізвища та імена,а також нерозшифровані псевдоніми і криптоніми подані у двох (сучасному й оригінальному) правописних варіантах (якщо ж вони не різняться, то наведено лише один раз) і розташовані в алфавітній послідовності. Якщо назва публікації не розкриває її змісту, то після бібліографічного посилання пропонується коротка анотація у квадратних дужках. Матеріали, які ввійшли до цього розділу, поділено на чотири частини: біографічні відомості про особу; публікації про посольську діяльність (участь у передвиборних кампаніях, виступи на засіданнях Галицького і Буковинського крайових сеймів, Державної ради Австро-Угорської імперії, законодавчі ініціативи, звіти перед виборцями); публікації (кореспонденції, дописи, виступи, рецензії, тематичні розвідки, відозви, листи, заяви); художні твори та їх переклади. Некрологи представлено у другому розділі видання. У цьому випадку також збережено алфавітну послідовність і два правописних варіанти подання прізвищ та імен.Посмертні згадки друкувалися здебільшого на третій або четвертій сторінці газети і містили інформацію про померлу особу — прізвище та ім’я (для дружини — також дівоче прізвище), її соціальний статус, посада, наукові чи літературні здобутки, нагороди, вказувалися дата і місце смерті, а також на якому кладовищі вона похована. Інколи посмертні згадки обмежувалися даними тільки про прізвище і місце смерті особи. Стосовно знаних у суспільстві людей подавалося значно більше інформації. У цих випадках некрологи друкувалися у формі статей на перших двох сторінках видання. У них, окрім розлогої біографії, містився опис заслуг померлого перед суспільством. Публікації про смерть людини, об’єднані жанровим означенням «некролог», у багатьох випадках завершувалися інформацією від родини під загальною назвою «Подяка».Змістом ця частина інколи доповнювала власне некролог датами життя й смерті, інформацією про сімейний стан, тих священиків, родичів, друзів, які підтримали родину покійного у важку хвилину та брали участь у чині похорону. Географічно матеріали до біобібліографістики «виходять» за межі Галичини, інформуючи про життя і діяльність як осіб всеукраїнського масштабу, негаличан за місцем народження, так і вихідців із Галицької землі, які проявили себе і поза батьківщиною. Отже, матеріали до біобібліографістики, представлені на сторінках часопису «Діло», дозволяють відновити багато імен знаних у свій час осіб, інформація про яких з відомих причин «загубилася» у минулому, насамперед через ідеологічні перестороги, а також ґрунтовно доповнити новими даними біографії як відомих українських діячів, так і представників інших національностей, життя і праця яких у той чи інший спосіб перепліталися з українською дійсністю.

Summary:The only Ukrainian journal of Galicia had been published over a period of 60 years (1880—1939). Continuously it has been presenting the interests of the stateless people during the rule of Austro-Hungarian Empire, the First World War, re-established Poland and within a short period of West Ukrainian National Republic formation. The editorial board managed to proceed from[⇒] spreading the ideas of enlightenment among common people to defending the rights of the Ukrainian nation for their own state. As a result this allows us to interpret «Dilo» as one of the considerable sources of studying the evolution of a Ukrainian political thought. The biographic materials dedicated to the well-known or little known personalities who worked and showed their worth in various social spheres are some of the important components of «Dilo».«Bio-bibliographical publications» is the first chapter of the journal that presents the materials about the persons mentioned in «Dilo» journal in the form of a finding list. The surnames and names as well as the indecipherable pseudonyms and kryptonyms are presented in alphabetical order and in two orthography variants (present-day and original, if differ). In case the name of the publication does not reveal its point there is a short annotation given in the square brackets after the bibliographical reference. The materials included in this chapter are divided into four parts. These are biographical information about the person; publications about the deputy’s activity (election campaigns participations, speech at the Galician an Bucovina regional senate sessions, Austro-Hungarian Empire State council, legislative initiatives, reports to the electorate); publications (correspondences, posts, speeches, reviews, thematic research, proclamations, letters, declarations);fiction and its translation. The obituaries are presented in the second chapter of the edition. In this respect the alphabetical order is also kept as well as two orthography variants of surnames and names spelling. Mostly, the obituaries were published on the third or fourth pages and contained the information about the deceased — a first name and a last name (a maiden name for a wife), social status, occupation, scientific or literary achievements, awards, the date and place of death and the cemetery the person was buried at. Sometimes the information was limited only to the last name and the place of death. A lot more information was given about well-known people in society. In such cases, the obituaries were published in the form of articles on the first two pages of the journal. Apart from the ample biography, these obituaries contained a description of the deceased’s merits to the society.Predominantly, the publications about the death of a person united under the «necrologue» genre ended up with the information from the family titled «Acknowledgement». Occasionally, this part supplemented the obituary itself with the dates of birth and death, information about the marital status of the priests, relatives, friends who supported the family of the deceased in difficult times and participated in the funeral arrangements. Geographically, the materials from the bio-bibliography go beyond the Galicia district and inform us about the life and work both of the nationwide scale persons who are not native Galicians and those natives who distinguished themselves outside the homeland.Hence, bio-bibliographical materials presented in «Dilo» journal allow the reader to restore the information about many names well-known in former times, that had been lost in the past for obvious reasons foremost because of the ideological warnings, furthermore to add thoroughly new biography data of the notable Ukrainian statesmen as well as the representatives of other nationalities whose life and activity interconnected with the Ukrainian reality in one way or another.
