Summary:This work presents the first attempt to summarize data on lichen-forming, lichenicolous and allied fungi of Eastern Carpathian region, including its Polish, Slovak, Ukrainian and Romanian parts. The first two parts are rather small in comparison of Ukrainian and especially Romanian Eastern Carpathian portions. Short history of the lichen survey in region mentioned is outlined. It is shown that special detailed lichenological studies are hitherto done only within Polish and Ukrainian parts. A catalogue of the lichen-forming, lichenicolous and allied fungi of the whole Eastern Carpathians region, completed on the basis of literature (papers published mainly before the end of 2001) and herbarium data, including 1307 species of 292 genera, is provided. The highest species diversity of fungi mentioned (1095 species) is hitherto known from Ukrainian part of Eastern Carpathians, while the biggest Romanian party (only 529 lichen species known) is still in urgent need of special study. Polish and Slovak portions are represented consequently by 508 and 411 species. Among geomorphologic regions of the area studied the highest lichen diversity (659 species of lichen-forming, lichenicolous and allied fungi) is till now known from Eastern Beskydy region from Ukrainian part of Eastern Carpathians. Each species is provided by synonyms, preliminary data on distribution ( with reference to geomorphological regions, accepted mainly after Kondracki 1989, within separate Eastern Carpathian country) and reference on lichen literature (published prior the end of 2001) or herbarium specimens.
