In the present work a base of development and preparation of novel polymer materials and coatings having a complex of special properties for requirements of modern industry, transport and medicine have been created and summarized. Perspectives of this direction are bounded with selective searching the novel polymer materials with improved protective, anticorrosion and bioactive, including medical (therapeutic) and bactericidal, properties. During the studies it was proposed to combine recent highly efficient approaches in preparation of polymer materials and coating. There are a modification of polyesters from natural raw by synthesized reactive oligomers, chemical modification of epoxy resins, introducing of unsaturated natural compounds, preparation of nanostructurized fillers within polymer matrix, including in situ technique, or their introducing during formation of polymer composite systems, modification of polymers for implants by addition of bioactive substances into final composition. A series of the works contains a priority in synthesis of film coatings based on vegetable oils and synthetic resins, which include reactive natural compounds, with improved mechanical properties, high chemical resistance and improved adhesion to various substrates. Enhanced practical effect has a results of synthesis of potential materials for implants, which contain non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug – piroxicam. Piroxicam possesses inhibition of cell reactions and biocompatibility of introduced implant in living (human) organism. A presence of highly active silver nanoparticles of defined shape and size in the polymer provides prolonged bactericidal activity of the material even at ultralow concentrations of active constituent. A number of fundamental results on formation of nanosized particles in the polymer matrices of different structure and functionality as well as on influence of interfacial interactions in these systems on a structure and properties of final materials have been obtained. The conducted work is favored in extending the knowledge in perspective fields of science and technology such as development of polymer materials for multipurpose application, resource-saving technologies, nanotechnology, materials for medicine, modern polymer synthesis approaches etc. Natural raw based coatings have been tested in JSC «UNIPOL». On a base of the results it was concluded that obtained materials have competitive characteristics in comparison with known commercial analogues. The results of the work have been presented in 94 publications, including 29 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and 4 patents. General citation index according to Scopus database is 70. The authors’ works are cited in more than 50 scientific and applied journals.
