The main idea of the research is to the development of the technique for the dynamics of desertification indicators assessment based on satellite imagery covering the Oleshky Sands massif in order to determine landscape changes over the past few decades and provide recommendations for mitigating their negative impact. Among the main indicators of desertification would be considered the following: greenness, soil moisture, surface albedo, the forests distribution etc. The satellite data set will be formed into a time series covering the period 1986-2021, for obtaining the spatial distributions of of selected desertification indicators increments. It would be a basis for conclusions about long-term landscape changes within the study region. Specialized software will also be developed to automate the spatial distribution of selected indicators deriving based on available remote sensing data.
