The aim of the project is to create new effective catalytic processes for the production of useful chemical compounds on solid bifunctional acid-base catalysts from sugar alcohols and sugars. In particular, the task is to develop active and selective solid catalysts based on mixed oxides containing SiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2, SnO2, ZnO. The phase composition, structural and chemical properties of the surface, the nature of the active centers of the catalysts will be established using the following methods: X-ray diffraction, DTA, IR and UV spectroscopy, SEM, RFES, NMR, low-temperature N2 adsorption, desorption mass spectrometry. The activity of the synthesized and commercially available catalysts will be determined in the reactions of catalytic conversion of sugar alcohols and sugars, in particular in the reactions of dehydration of sorbitol to isosorbide, conversion of fructose into methyl lactate and methyllevulinate. The influence of the concentration of initial solutions on the productivity of the reaction products and the stability of the catalysts will be studied, as well as the optimal conditions for the reactions will be established. As a result of the project, catalytic processes for the production of useful chemical compounds on solid catalysts from carbohydrates will be developed, which will be patented.
