The goal of the series of scientific papers is the analysis of current socio-economic condition of rural territories of Ukraine; assessment the main obstacles of their efficient economic transformation and use of existing potential; substantiation of theoretical and methodological thesis on the ways to ensure the social and economic development of villages in Ukraine; detection of mechanism to improve the financial support of rural territorial communities’ development, in particular during the reformation of Ukraine’s administrative and territorial division; substantiation of factors active in formation of polyfunctionality of rural areas based on development non-agrarian activities and improvement of economic efficiency and competitiveness of agriculture; definition, in the context of transformation towards market economy, of the changes in consumption behavior of rural population, as the factor of intensification of development of local and remote markets of goods and services. Scientific novelty of the presented publications series lies in substantiation of theoretical and methodological approaches towards socio-economic development of rural Ukraine, based on comprehensive and multiple-aspect analysis of transformation processes in rural areas of Ukraine. The work differs from domestic and foreign analogues by the complex approach towards solution of objectives of economic development of rural areas. Approach to scientific research developed by the authors stresses upon implementation of innovational principles in management of development of rural areas with the goal to intensify the socio-economic processes and increase their efficiency, based on formation of polyfunctionality of rural communities, optimization of their financial strength and support of economic self-sustenance, development of informational infrastructure. Practical input of these results is mirrored through the prepared documents, oriented towards the development of rural areas. The effect from implementation of presented thesis in the series on the level of state and regional authorities lies in optimization of management of rural areas’ development, more efficient solutions of existing problems of Ukrainian villages and formation of preconditions for their sustainable development based on polyfunctionality.
