The research is devoted to theoretical, methodological and practical issues of energy security and energy efficiency assessment by using a system approach and the development of scientific and practical recommendations to choose priority areas for strengthening energy security and increasing energy efficiency in Ukraine. The concept of energy security based on a system approach are developed, which involves the attributes and energy interests of such energy sub-systems as energy supply, energy transformation and energy consumption. These subsystems are combined in such components of energy security as energy independence, energy efficiency and energy conservation. The methodical approach to the assessment of energy security of the country are determined by the use of the existing sequence of interconnected techniques like an indicative analysis, parametric identification and integrated evaluation, which are allowing a comprehensive study of this problematic issue by type of fuel and energy resources. A methodical approach to the assessment of energy efficiency from the perspective of the concept of sustainable development are proposed, the strategic guidelines defined and developed predictive models to improve energy efficiency in the industry of the region. It is also proposed the evaluation of the energy independence of Ukraine in view of the proven energy potential. Research findings presented in 15 publications.
