Since July 2019, Ukraine has introduced a new model of the electricity market, which determines the development of the unified electricity system (UES) of Ukraine in market conditions by ensuring the functioning of new market segments and new information and settlement systems to ensure their operation. The main organizational segments of the new model are the day-ahead market and the balancing market. Functional security of relevant software systems is a guarantee of stability of the electricity market of Ukraine. Failure of such systems can lead to complex consequences of balancing the power system and non-performance of financial calculations. This provides the grounding to characterize such systems as safety-critical. Today, a process of clarification and change of the rules of operation of these segments takes place. This leads to appropriate changes in the algorithms of their work and changes their functional composition, thus, prompting the relevance of the problem of improving the design process of such systems from the standpoint of functional safety.
