Chulkov S.S. after finishing school entered the Kiev Geological-Prospecting College, which he finished in 1975 by speciality "geophysical methods of survey and prospecting mineral deposits".
In 1977, after military service in the Soviet Army, he worked as a laboratory assistant and a Professor at the KGPC. In 1987 he graduated from the Kiev State University named after T. G. Shevchenko.
From 1989 to 1993 he worked at the PGG "Yamalgeophysica" as an engineer-geophysicist, supervising engineer, supervisor of the seismic group. He participated in elaboration and implementing into productive activity new seismic exploration facilities and new methods of oil and gas prospecting in the Yamal peninsula.
Chulkov S.S. has been working at the Institute of Geophysics named after S.I. Subbotin NAS of Ukraine since 1993 as a supervising engineer, supervisor of the Central testing-methodical group.
He particirated in the development of a net of sites for collecting geophysical information all over the territory of Ukraine.
In accordance with a request of "Yamalgeophysica" Authority he worked twice for oil and gas prospecting in the Republic of Paraguay (1997) and Autonomous Republic of Komi (2001).
Since 2002 - a Deputy Director on general questions.
In 2004 he participated as a member of geophysical group in the IX Marine Antarctic Expedition.
