He was born on May 19, 1931 in Proskurov, now Khmelnytsky. In 1932 the family moved to Kyiv. In 1949-1954 studied at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (specialty Technology of Electrical Engineering). In 1954-1955 worked at a closed company. From 1955 worked at the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry as engineer, junior researcher, senior scientist, head of the laboratory and, since 1979 - head of the Department of electrochemistry of non-metallic systems. Doctor of Chemical Sciences since 1975, Professor since 1985.
Specialist in the field of electrochemistry of aqueous solutions, solid-phase electrochemical reduction of refractory metal ions (in particular, tungsten and molybdenum) and oxidation of these metals. He developed models of the mechanism of tungsten oxidation. Created the basis of technology for producing tungsten alloys from peroxide acidic electrolytes. He proposed a semi-surface model of reduction (oxidation), which allows explaining the electrochemical behavior of refractory metals based on a unified theory of solid-phase systems. He has also worked in the field of electrochemistry of semiconductors and semimetals, electrochemical converters of solar energy and indicators, developing designs and technologies for the manufacture of medical microprobe for pH-meter and visual hydrogen sensor.
He created the scientific direction and scientific school on tungsten electrochemistry and electrosynthesis of semiconductor compounds. Under his leadership, 5 PhD theses were defended. He is a co-author of more than 120 printed works, including 5 monographs and 23 inventions.
